Blog Post #3

In the past, I have done group blogging for other class assignments. I have never blogged as a hobby or personal enjoyment, but there are certain topics that I feel passionate about blogging and sharing my experience with online. Additionally, blogs on the internet have been a great resource for researching information about topics such as cooking, fitness, life hacks, and so much more! I find blogs to be fun and personable, since they're written firsthand, which makes them more entertaining and engaging. Since I am not the strongest writer, I have found it somewhat challenging and unenjoyable to write blogs in the past. This class in particular has exposed me to more opportunities and experience writing blogs, which in turn will prepare me for the possibility of interacting with them in the future.

Artificial intelligence has advanced so rapidly in the world of education. There is no question that the endless benefits of AI can provide students with the resources to be successful in an academic setting, but there are also many downsides to its prevalence in the classroom. In the K-12 setting, I don't believe most students are mature enough to have access to such a useful tool without abusing its power. There seems to be a hindrance in the learning process when AI becomes too accessible, and this comes from students using the software to cheat on their assignments. This tool can be extremely useful for older students to study for important exams such as the SAT, PSAT, ACT, and even AP exams. In summary, there needs to be more boundaries with all students using AI in the classroom, but I also think students should be taught how to use it appropriately and properly to be a resource in their academic success.

My experience with Generative AI when using it for the Participation Portfolio Item: Generative AI was quite overwhelming. Usually, when using AI, it includes a lot of detailed information, which is great when creating a lesson plan, but a lot to take in at once. Although AI was a useful tool and checked off most of what I wanted in my lesson plan, next time I use it, I would also ask for a more concise and easier-to-understand plan that I can explain to my students. All in all, ChatGPT was a useful tool and adjusted well to the input I gave after revising the lesson plan it provided.

I envision using AI in my teaching practice to brainstorm fun and creative ways to make my classroom as engaging as possible for my young students. As an instructor, I imagine how much work and pressure it is, and I believe AI would be a great tool to think up ideas to make my classroom as good as it can be. Furthermore, AI would be a great resource in creating lesson plans and keeping classroom guidelines as up-to-date as possible. Ethical concerns that I may have for using AI in the classroom are students modeling my use of the software and abusing its power. In my classroom, I will emphasize the boundaries and limitations of using AI, and show students the appropriate way to utilize it.
